Pistol Permit

The sheriff's office pistol permit clerk is open for business Monday through Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm.  The pistol permit clerk is located at 301 Court Street in Little Valley.

As of January 1, 2012

A pistol permit application MUST be purchased from the clerk for $10.00.

A dealer-gunsmith application MUST be purchased from the clerk for $10.00

Detective Division

The Detective Division of the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office is currently under the command of Chief of Detectives Captain Robert Yehl. Within the Division, there are detectives with specialized training in several fields, including fire and arson investigation, juvenile crimes, sex crimes, domestic violence intervention, welfare fraud, elderly abuse and computer and internet related crime. Sheriff Timothy Whitcomb Announces Participation in Summer Camp Program

Cattaraugus County Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb announced today that 29 children from the county are attending the New York State Sheriffs’ Association Institute’s 2012 Summer Camp. The Sheriffs’ Summer Camp is designed to provide a solid recreational program combined with the development of a sense of good citizenship. This will mark the 35th year of the camp’s operation.
