March 16, through May 14, 2014

During this time period, no open burning shall be allowed.  Opening burning may be allowed between May 15, and March 15, provided requirements are met and no further bans are in place through local or State regulation.

Fire Investigation Team

The Cattaraugus County Fire Investigation Team (CATTFIT) was established in 1979 with grant money that was earmarked for arson prevention. At that time, the field of municipal arson investigation was rapidly growing. A team of investigators was chosen from the ranks of the volunteer fire service in Cattaraugus County and from area police agencies and began investigating fires in 1980. Since that time, the team has witnessed a marked decrease in the instances of arson in Cattaraugus County. Read more

State-wide Burn Ban in Effect

As of July 13, 2012, a State-wide burn ban is in effect for all of New York through October 10th.  The ban includes all regulations of the annual, Spring Burn Ban which can be found in it's entirety by clicking the link below.
