Environmental Health Services Fees

All fees charged for Environmental Health services are established by the Cattaraugus County Legislature through local law.

The download below is the most recent revision of the local law establishing fees to be charged by the Cattaraugus County Health Department.  This law became effective August 1, 2011. 

Please note that with the establishment of this fee schedule, non-profit organizations are no longer exempt from fees charged for Environmental Health services.

Private Water Supplies

Water supplies not meeting the definition of a "Public Water Supply" are typically referred to as private water supplies.  The NYS Department of Health has established standards for well construction and guidelines for proper siting and water quality testing.  Educational information and recommendations are provided on request. Water-Sewage Survey Request Form

The "Water/Sewer Survey Request Form" is used to request a survey (or inspection) of private water supplies and sewage disposal systems in connection with Real Property Transfers.  Cattaraugus County requires that these surveys be performed for many types of property transfers.  In addition, lending agencies may also require them as part of the lending process.

Public Water Systems

A “Public Water System” is a water system meeting certain definitions found in Federal and State drinking water regulations.  These systems are monitored and inspected by the Environmental Health Division for compliance with strict treatment, reporting, and water quality standards.  Read more

Water Testing Services Information

The documents below contain information regarding water testing services available to residents of Cattaraugus County and educational information on how to interpret your results.

The "CCHD Certified Water Testing Services Price Sheet" contains a list of all potable water testing services available through the Cattaraugus County Health Department Laboratory.

The "Coliform Bacteria Brochure" contains information regarding bacteriological testing (the standard test for potability).  This brochure aims to help interpret the results of your water sample. Read more
