GIS Day 2004 Wrap Up
Cattaraugus County held GIS Day 2004 in the lobby of the County Building in Little Valley, NY. The County’s GIS Coordinator Daniel T. Martonis was on hand all day to talk about GIS to any interested parties.
I'm proud to announce that the County's GIS capabilities were represented in the winter edition of the New York State's GIS Newsletter: Page 7. I fully expect to put on another demonstration on GIS Day next year.
Daniel Martonis, GIS Coordinator
We had many maps on hand to show the capabilities of our GIS system. A GPS receiver was on display to demonstrate how our GPS data is collected. A computer was in place to let people surf the County's ArcIMS sites and to show people the power of our GIS software. Many maps were printed for people who were interested in anything from parcel lines to aerial photography. Multiple brochures that were created with the help of GIS were given out for free. These brochures included GPS'd snowmobile trails, GPS'd Amish locations, hiking trails, etc.
We plan on doing this again in 2005.
