Pieces from the Past

On Sunday September 25, 2005 from one to four p.m. the Museum will open a new exhibit titled "Pieces from the Past" 19th and 20th century quilts from Cattaraugus County. All of the quilts on exhibit are from Cattaraugus County. The exhibit will have examples of all of the different types of quilt making shown in over a dozen quilts.

An example of red work quilts from the early 20th century made with penny squares bought in the five and dime will be displayed. Signature quilts from Conewango and Randolph provide names of former residents. Crazy quilts from the late 1800's made of velvet and silk and embroidered with colorful threads and designs.

All are invited to the opening day on Sunday September 25th. The exhibit will be open until March 24, 2006.
