Tourism Destination Assessments in Cattaraugus County Is The Topic of the Cattaraugus County Planning Board Annual Meeting

The Cattaraugus County Planning Board will hold its Annual Meeting on July 28, 2008 at the St. Bonaventure Golf Clubhouse, West State Road (Route 417), St. Bonaventure, New York. Roger Brooks of Destination Development, Inc., will be the Keynote Speaker.

A founding member of the award-winning Destination Development team, Roger Brooks has worked in tourism and economic development for more than 25 years and has become one of the most recognized experts in the field of tourism, consumer trends, marketing, and project development in the country.

Co-author of the book “Your Town a Destination - The 25 Immutable Rules of Successful Tourism,” Roger's enthusiasm for economic development and tourism is apparent. His dynamic approach and tell-it-like-it-is style have made him a very popular public speaker. Roger has assisted major destination resorts and communities throughout the U.S. and Canada in developing themes, creating branding and repositioning programs, and building tourism development plans.

Cattaraugus County has enlisted the aid of Destination Development, Inc. to evaluate portions of our County and to advise those areas of ways to improve their tourism impacts. In 2007 Roger visited the Onoville Marina area and the Gowanda to Randolph area and he is currently visiting the cities of Salamanca and Olean.

The Annual Meeting will begin at 5:00 pm with registration and refreshment hour, followed by dinner at 6:00. At 7:00 the Cattaraugus County Planning Board will present this year's recipient of their “Brooks Patterson Community Leadership Award”. Keynote Speaker Roger Brooks will follow.
