Updates on the weather January 12-13, 2018:

There are concerns regarding travel safety for the afternoon commute today, Friday, January 12, 2018.  The warm temperatures, rain, and wet roadways we are currently experiencing will quickly turn cold and slippery around 3 p.m. today.

The temperatures will be dropping rapidly causing rain to turn to sleet and freezing rain.  We expect the roads to get slick by 3 p.m. and get progressively worse through the evening.  Drivers should be prepared to take extra time to get to your destination.  At this time, ice is only a concern for the roadways and shouldn't cause any other significant damage (trees, powerlines, etc.).

The icy conditions will usher in significant snowfall beginning sometime tonight and continuing through tomorrow.  At this time, 8-12 inches of snow are expected to accumulate across the county by Saturday evening.
