The Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services assisted county residents with special medical needs during the hot months this year through the Home Energy Assistance Program's Cooling Component.

The Heap Cooling Program provides for the purchase and installation of air conditioners and fans to low income households that include a member with a medical condition that is intensified by the warm weather. Please be advised that this program will be ending on 8/31/18. Applications for HEAP Cooling Component must be received by Department of Social Services no later than close of business 8/31/18. Mailed applications must have a postmark no later than 8/31/18.

Applicants were required to meet the HEAP income guidelines for the 2017-18 year, and reside in a HEAP eligible living situation in Cattaraugus County.  A statement from a medical provider was also required.

For more information, contact Molly Marsh, Chief Examiner, at the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services at 701-3518.
