Cattaraugus County Health Department was notified of three additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 residents within Cattaraugus County. The department’s active positive COVID-19 caseload is now sixty nine as there are two hundred and sixty four residents who have recovered from COVID-19.

The three hundred and forty fourth confirmed case is a male resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history or being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. He was recently hospitalized with shortness of breath and was tested for COVID-19 on October 15th. His test results on October 16th indicated that he was positive for the virus.

The three hundred and forty fifth confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history. She is a healthcare worker who reports being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. She recently developed fever and fatigue and was tested for COVID-19 on October 12th as part of a weekly screening requirement of the facility. Her test results on October 17th indicated that she was positive for the virus.

The three hundred and forty sixth confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history. She is a healthcare worker who reports being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person however, she reports being asymptomatic (no fever, no cough, no body aches, etc.). She was tested for COVID-19 on October 12th as part of a weekly screening requirement of the facility. Her test results on October 17th indicated that she was positive for the virus.

The department has begun a thorough contact tracing investigation for those individuals that they have been in contact with and the places that they have visited.
We would like to reiterate that if any resident experience fever, cough, shortness of breath or whole body aches they should contact their health care provider (avoid going directly to an Urgent Care facility, or the Emergency Room before calling).
