Cattaraugus County Health Department was notified of seven additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 residents within Cattaraugus County. The department’s active positive COVID-19 caseload is now seventy six as there are two hundred and ninety one residents who have recovered from COVID-19.
The three hundred and seventy sixth confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the northwest quadrant of the county, who recently traveled to both Ohio and North Carolina. She denies being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person, but recently developed congestion running nose, and loss of taste and smell. She was given a rapid test for COVID-19 on October 20th and her test results indicated that she was positive for the virus.
The three hundred and seventy seventh confirmed case is a male resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history. He is a healthcare worker who reports being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. He recently developed cough, chills, body aches, headaches and diarrhea. He was tested for COVID-19 on October 19th and his test results on October 21st indicated that he was positive for the virus.
The three hundred and seventy eighth confirmed case is a male resident who resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history. He was recently hospitalized with pneumonia. He was tested for COVID-19 on October 19th and his test results on October 21st indicated that he was positive for the virus.
The three hundred and seventy ninth confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the northeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history or being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. She reports being asymptomatic (no fever, no cough, no body aches, etc.) and was given a rapid test for COVID-19 on October 21st and her test results indicated that she was positive for the virus.
The three hundred and eightieth confirmed case is a male resident that resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who denies any significant travel history or being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person. He was recently hospitalized with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was given a rapid COVID-19 test on October 21st and his test results indicated that he was positive for the virus.
The three hundred and eighty first confirmed case is a female resident that resides in the southeast quadrant of the county, who traveled to Florida in July. She denies being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person but recently developed headaches. She was given a rapid COVID-19 test on October 21st and her test results indicated that he was positive for the virus.
The three hundred and eighty second confirmed case is a female resident who resides in the northeast quadrant of the county, who has no significant travel history. She reports being in direct contact with a positive COVID-19 person but also reports being asymptomatic (no fever, no cough, no body aches, etc.). She was given a rapid test for COVID-19 on October 21st and her test results indicated that he was positive for the virus.
The department has begun a thorough contact tracing investigation for those individuals that they have been in contact with and the places that they have visited.
We would like to reiterate that if any resident experience fever, cough, shortness of breath or whole body aches they should contact their health care provider (avoid going directly to an Urgent Care facility, or the Emergency Room before calling).
In addition, wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. This is especially important after using the bathroom, coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose.
If soap and water is not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains a minimum of 60% alcohol.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, especially with unwashed hands.
Disinfect commonly touched surfaces with a cleaner that is approved by the EPA against COVID-19.
