May is Foster Care Month
The Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services will join districts across New York State in recognizing the month of May as Foster Care Month.
Our youth are a precious resource and symbol of hope for the future and deserve to grow up in a safe, healthy and stable home environment. Statewide, there are over 19,000 children who seek placement in a permanent, nurturing, adoptive home. In Cattaraugus County, 93 children are currently in foster care.
During Foster Care Month in May, the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services honors its dedicated Foster and Adoptive parents who are answering the call to action by providing a safe, secure, loving home to improve the lives of families and youth from our area.
The Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services acknowledges the invaluable work being done by foster and adoptive families, our dedicated staff, advocates and professionals and Family Court personnel to facilitate the safety and stability of children in foster care.
The Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services is always looking for potential foster and/or adoptive homes. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about foster care or adoption, please contact Adoption Caseworker and Home Finder Kayla Chesebro at 716-701-3664.
