ATTENTION ... New York State Pistol/Revolver License Holders
Recent changes to the New York State (NYS) firearms laws require pistol/revolver license holders to recertify their status every five years. Failure to recertify within the deadline (January 31, 2018) will result in the revocation of your pistol/revolver license.
HOW TO RECERTIFY
You can recertify your pistol/revolver license electronically by visiting https://firearms.troopers.ny.gov/pprecert/ and following the instructions on that web page. You can also recertify through the U.S. mail by filling out a paper form (available at https://troopers.ny.gov/Firearms/ or any New York State Police location) and then mailing the completed form to New York State Police, Pistol Permit Bureau, Building 22, 1220 Washington Avenue, Albany, New York 12226-2252.
WHEN TO RECERTIFY
The deadline to recertify is based on the date that you were originally issued your pistol/revolver license.
* If your license was issued before January 15, 2013, the deadline to submit your recertification is January 31, 2018.
* If your license was issued on or after 15, 2013, the deadline to recertify is five years after the date the license was issued.
THERE IS NO CHARGE TO RECERTIFY AT THIS TIME
