How do I get a copy of my deed, or tax documents?

WARNING:   Periodically, owners may receive a notice that looks like a bill, but does not originate with the County, nor any Government Agency.  The notice/bill may offer to send you a copy of your deed, and/or a report with property information.  Their fee may be $80 or more. There may even be a due date, or a ‘respond by’ date.

Vendors wanted for the 9th annual OnoFest

Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism is in preparations for the 9th Annual OnoFest being held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Onoville Marina, 8 miles south of Exit 17 off I-86 on West Perimeter Road, Steamburg, NY.

OnoFest is a one day event that will start at 12:00 pm and run to 9:30 p.m. It is a family-oriented event scheduled to have arts; crafts; food; games and contests for the young and old alike; bands throughout the day with a grand finale of fireworks at dusk!

The Cattaraugus County Museum and Research Library is pleased to announce the opening of it's new exhibit: "The National Pastime: Baseball in Cattaraugus County Museum."  This centerpiece of this exhibit is the museum's Ed Tanner collection, focusing on the stellar career of the Franklinville Frankees standout.  In addition we have uniforms, photos, and memorabilia of teams from across Cattaraugus County.  If you are interested in baseball or local history, please come check it out!

PUBLIC HEALTH NOTICE - Fox with Rabies

On May 18, 2016 a gray fox was found at a private residence on Canal Avenue off Route 16, just north of the City of Olean. This fox attacked a resident and several domestic animals.

Laboratory testing by the New York Stale Health Department confirmed that the animal was infected with the rabies virus.

Beginning this week, Medicare beneficiaries will receive a letter from the Social Security Administration (SSA) if they may be eligible for help with their out-of-pocket medical and drug expenses. Cathy Mackay, Director of Department of the Aging/NY Connects, encourages beneficiaries who receive these letters to take action to learn more about the Medicare Savings Program (MSP) and Extra Help.

Warning of IRS Call Scam

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning to its residents about scam artists reportedly posing as IRS employees.

The scam begins with a resident receiving a call from someone reporting to be an agent of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The caller informs the resident they owe money to the IRS and demands it be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest or suspension of a business or driver’s license.
