The Cattaraugus County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board, along with the Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism, the Cattaraugus County Farm Bureau, the Cattaraugus County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board will host the 8th Annual Cattaraugus County Farmer-Neighbor Dinner on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the West Valley Fire Hall, 9091 Route 240, West Valley, NY.

New York State Citizen Preparedness Corps Training

With severe weather events becoming more frequent and more extreme, it is more important than ever that New Yorkers are prepared for disasters. The NY Citizen Preparedness Training Program teaches residents to have the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. The training course will provide an introduction to responding to a natural or man-made disaster.

2 Openings for State Fire Instructors Assigned to Cattaraugus County

Attached below for download is a canvass letter from New York State (NYS) Office of Fire Prevention and Control (OFPC), a division of the NYS Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES), with details outlining the application process for State Fire Instructor assigned to Cattaraugus County.  We currently have 2 openings and are looking forward to filling them with qualified individuals as soon as possible.  Resume and letter of intent must be sent to FPS Joshua Brott at

The Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging's Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) needs your help. We are currently looking for volunteers for the Cattaraugus/Little Valley Senior Wellness and Nutrition site, located at 17 South St. in Cattaraugus.

We are in need of nutrition site and Meals on Wheels volunteers. A nutrition site volunteer helps with cleaning tables, washing dishes, and packing Meals on Wheels.

The Cattaraugus County Board of Health meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2019. 

In New York State, county Boards of Health are empowered by NYS Public Health Law to formulate, promulgate, adopt and publish rules, regulations, orders and directions for the security of life and health in the county health districts.  Boards of Health are also empowered to enforce provisions of both the State and County Sanitary Codes.
