SHERIFF TIMOTHY WHITCOMB ANNOUNCES PARTICIPATION IN SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM
Cattaraugus County Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb announced today that 31 children from the county are attending the New York State Sheriffs’ Association Institute’s 2014 Summer Camp. The Sheriffs’ Summer Camp is designed to provide a solid recreational program combined with the development of a sense of good citizenship.
The Cattaraugus County Planning Board, at its July 23th, 2014 Annual Dinner Meeting, presented the 2014 Brooks Patterson Community Leadership Award to Bob Fischer of the Town of Portville for his outstanding leadership in community involvement. The meeting was held at the Ellicottville Brewing Co. in Ellicottville, NY.
Cathy Mackay, director of the Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging, has announced that the agency’s Twentieth (20th) Annual Senior Forum and Public Hearing will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014, at the Ellicottville Elementary School beginning at 9:00 a.m. The forum is open to all persons age 60 and older who are residents of Cattaraugus County.
In May 2012, Cattaraugus County and ProAct implemented a free prescription discount card program for all county residents. Over the course of two years, Cattaraugus County residents have achieved a combined savings of over $300,000 on nearly 5,400 prescriptions filled.
Cathy Mackay, director of the Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging, has announced plans for the upcoming quarterly birthday party, 3rd Quarter of 2014, to be held at the Senior Wellness and Nutrition sites located throughout the county.
The Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services is looking for foster and/or adoptive families.
Each year, dozens of children in Cattaraugus County enter foster care. Safe, temporary housing with loving families is needed to keep kids close to their schools, churches, friends and families.
The Cattaraugus County Department of Health may conduct aerial spraying to kill mosquito larvae in breeding areas located in the townships of: Allegany, Carrollton, Great Valley, Olean, Portville and Salamanca.
Cathy Mackay, director of the Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging, has announced that Cattaraugus County has been awarded 660 Senior Farmers Market coupon booklets, valued at $13,200. Each booklet contains five $4.00 coupons ($20.00 value), and can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at participating Farmers' Markets in Cattaraugus County.
