The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a hunters’ education class for the gun portion only on the following dates and time: Monday March 13, 2017 and Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. The class will be held at the Hideaway Archery in Dayton, New York.
There is no charge for the class. Participants must attend both days of instruction to receive a certificate. It is preferable that participants be at least 12 years of age. If a parent wants an 11-year-old to take the class, the parent must attend and sit with the child on both d
The sale of tobacco products to minors (under 18) is a violation of NYS Public Health Law, Article 13-F: Regulation of Tobacco Products and Herbal Cigarettes; Distribution to Minors. Additionally, the Cattaraugus County Legislature recently passed a local law prohibiting the sale of tobacco and nicotene containing products to anyone under the age of twenty-one (21).

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office proudly announces on Wednesday, January 25th, 2017 Sheriff Timothy Whitcomb was sworn in as President of the NYS Sheriffs’ Association. Sheriff Whitcomb was joined at the ceremony by several local officials, current and former. Holding the Bible during the oath was Retired Sheriff Jerry Burrell, who served Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office from 1985-1996.
