As criminals become technologically advanced and increasingly aggressive in their tactics, it is more important than ever for seniors to remain educated and vigilant about financial fraud.
In an effort to help prevent seniors from becoming victims of fraud, a group of local law enforcement agencies, M&T Bank Financial Crimes Unit, and AARP have partnered to offer a fraud awareness presentation. Seniors will learn about current scams used by criminal organizations to target victims, how to avoid becoming a victim, and what to do if you have been scammed. There is no cost to attend and no registration is required.
The presentation will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Allegany Highway Department / 60 Plus meeting facility, 3790 Birch Run Road, Allegany, NY. The presentation is geared toward seniors, but all ages are welcome to attend and benefit from this valuable information. Light refreshments will be provided by County Department of the Aging.
