Administrative Lieutenant Melanie ChurakosThe Administrative Division consists of the Civil Department, Pistol Permit Clerk, Records Clerk, Training Unit and   K-9 Units. Administrative Lieutenant Melanie Churakos oversees the day to day operations of the Administrative Division.

The Secretary to the Sheriff Teresa Navarre, Senior Accountant Rachel Kent and Principle Account Clerk-Typist Melissa Hadley handle the day to day bookkeeping and budget tracking. They help to run a tight financial ship and reduce the burden to county taxpayers.

All civil proceedings are handled in this division and are processed by Civil Clerk Kristi Weaver and Senior Civil Clerk Karla Hanft, can be contacted at 716-938-2248 or kshanft@cattco.org.  Civil process is served by all road patrol deputies as they work their shifts. This allows the road patrol deputies the chance to become more familiar with the people living in their patrol zones.

Training Managers in Sheriff's OfficeAll New York State Pistol Permits that are issued to residents of Cattaraugus County are maintained by the Pistol Permit Clerk Mae Reynolds. Please refer to the Pistol Permit page on our website for specific information.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office actively pursues grant monies from various sources in an attempt to reduce the financial burden of law enforcement on the taxpayers of Cattaraugus County. Rachel Kent is our grant writer and administers grants amounting in almost $3,000,000.00 that the department has been awarded from various sources. These grants have allowed us to add personnel and equipment that was badly needed.

Training Coordinator Investigator Ken Rice over sees all the training needs and requirements for the Sheriff's Office and is assigned as the Accreditation Program Manager.
