The Department of Veterans Affairs has an outpatient clinic for primary care services for veterans at 465 North Union Street in Olean. Veterans also will be able to receive behavioral health services from VA staff at that location. The clinic will help meet the needs of veterans whose geographic location makes accessing the VA Western New York Healthcare System in Buffalo difficult. By offering community based service, VA officials hope to provide better access to veterans in Cattaraugus County and increase the number of veterans served. Currently, 13.5% of the County's nearly 9,000 veterans utilize their VA healthcare benefits. The VA Western New York Healthcare System currently has other community based clinics in Dunkirk, Jamestown, Niagara Falls, Lockport, Warsaw, and soon to come are sites in Lackawanna and on East Broadway in Buffalo.

"We look forward to providing better access to VA health care to the veterans in Cattaraugus County", said William F. Feeley, Director of VISN 2. " We feel this is a crucial service to offer to all those who served our country so valiantly. Cattaraugus County is home to many veterans and they all deserve the opportunity to easily access service."

As a primary care center for veterans, the VA Olean Clinic will stress health maintenance and preventative medicine. Veterans will be able to obtain routine lab tests and diagnostic studies, as well as medications through the clinic. If specialized care or hospital admission is indicated, veterans will be referred to the VA Buffalo facility.

Enrolled veterans who wish to make an appointment at the clinic may call the Olean Clinic at (716)373-7709, option 1.
