Economic & Market Analysis for Communities
in the Perimeter of Allegany State Park - Volume 6
Smart Development for Quality Communities Guidebook Series
Cattaraugus County, July 31, 2001
The Saratoga Associates and Cattaraugus County collaborated in the preparation of this guidebook, which looks at potential markets for existing manufacturing, commercial, and tourism assets in the vicinity of Allegany State Park, and evaluates the opportunities that they create. The analysis is based on State and Federal projections of highway traffic, economic development, and cross-sector increases in employment opportunities. Appropriate sites are also identified within the Perimeter Zone for commercial, industrial, and tourism- related development. Specifically, demonstration projects are identified for the gateway communities of Limestone, the City of Salamanca, and the Onoville Marina area in the Town of South Valley. These projects include an Outdoor Sports Recreation and Visitor's Center in Limestone, the State Park Village proposal for East Salamanca, and the Onoville Marina Expansion/Equestrian Center proposals.
Volumes 5, 6 and 7 (as a set) received the Western New York Section of the American Planning Association's "2004 Outstanding Planning Award for Comprehensive Planning".
