Picture of Jail entrance The Cattaraugus County Jail is a maximum security 148 bed facility. It houses both sentenced and un-sentenced male and female prisoners.

Offenses range from violations and misdemeanor charges to FBI index crimes. FBI index crimes are 8 categorized crimes the FBI combines to produce its annual crime index. The offences include; willful homicide, forcible rape, robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, arson, motor vehicle theft, and larceny. 

The facility is comprised of both linear bar sections and dorm/direct supervision pods.

Extraordinary measures are taken to maintain a safe, secure, clean, and compliant facility. The Cattaraugus County jail is in substantial compliance with the many complex and detailed minimum standards set forth by the New York State Commission of Correction.Picture of inside of jail cell

The supervisory staff is comprised of one Correction Captain, Captain Eric J. Keller (ejkeller@cattco.org). Correction Lieutenant, and seven Correction Sergeants. Rank and file officers include forty-three full time Correction Officers and twenty part time Correction Officers.

These officers remain steadfast and professional in a challenging environment.

Officers receive their training through a regional Basic Correction Academy as well as a comprehensive field training program. Employment information is available on the Civil Service Employment Portal.

Posting Bail online


Bail can be posted online using GovPayNet.

You will need to know the date of birth, jacket number, trial court name and docket number. 


Kiosk Money Terminal


Anyone can add funds to an inmates account via the kiosk terminal located in the public visitation lobby. The public has full access to this terminal on a 24/7 basis. Simple on screen prompts make depositing cash monies or using a credit card user friendly. Please note: The kiosk terminal does NOT accept one dollar bills. It does accept 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 dollar bills.


Remote Money Deposits


Anyone can deposit funds to an inmate account via the internet Smart Deposit Plus or by phone: 1-866-394-0490.  You will need the inmate's jacket number and the facility code/pay location: 5500.  Detailed instructions have been provided to all inmates.
